If you are trying to do as professional a job as you skillset will allow, I personally think Snagit is the way to go. So if you want to illustrate a menu selection that is 2 or 3 levels deep, and if moving the cursor to select the screen capture would make the menu selections go away, you can opt for a 15 second delay giving you time to get back into the menu once the capture is triggered. You can choose between device audio (Windows and media sounds), your mic or both at the same time. 4-During recording, you can choose what audio Snagit will record. 3-Once selected, a new window will appear. On top of that, Snagit is also capable of capturing and recording video and can even turn text from a screenshot into actually. 2-Click on 'Start New Capture' red button and select the area, window or screen you want to record. Dan Gervais Snagit continues to impress with its ability to allow an intuitive way to capture quality screenshots that can be used for knowledge sharing and more. It can do some limited video editing but they also sell a $300 video editor called Camtasia ( I bought a MUCH ceaper editor!), but they do have to balance the features of the simple video editor with the 'big boy". This tool is more than a capture tool it is a full image editing suite for screen captures. (arrows, notes, bubble boxes, text of all sorts, etc.) It comes with a pretty good editor that allows for some pretty good annotation of the screen capture along with other edits. It not only does a stills screen capture but captures video screen capture with audio as well. I have not used the newest version which has lots of features. Several years ago I used Snagit, and it worked very well.
